Accent Reduction

Do you find you need to repeat yourself or asked to slow down? Are you always asked where you're from? Do you feel added anxiety when having to speak English?

Accent Reduction isn't just about sounding different. It's about how to use the language effectively.

Accent Reduction is the technical shift in the physical placement of the mouth and tongue altered by another language. A language's accent is flow and flair that makes you an effective speaker, and easily understood- not just a user of the words.

English is so tricky because it is used as a primary language all over the world. So which accent is right? North American, or "broadcasters" English is what you are most used to hearing in the media and in music. It's the plainest of the English accents, and so it's most easily understood.

Every language has specific sounds that can affect the accent of your English. Consonants tend to improve audibility, vowels give personality and emphasis.

I use a series of single letter worksheets, looking first at perfect physical placement, then in a word, sentence, paragraph and free speech. Through understanding, repetition and application clients see improvements with every class.

Working with Heather was amazing! She's incredibly professional, positive, and helpful. I needed this training for work but hadn’t made much progress on my own, which was getting discouraging. But today, she got me excited and completely re-inspired to practice my accent, and I even made progress in my first class!
